Production Operators

Production Operators (PO) are key team members (Full Time) that will train and work in a variety of roles as required by the business. These positions will include Heavy Lifter, Machine Operator, Lead Hand, Packaging Lead Hand, Utility and Packer.

Compensation: $ 16.00/hour to start. Increases by $0.25/hour every 3 months until a full rate of $ 17.50 is achieved.  MSP, Extended Health, Incentives after 3 months. RRSP after 1 year.

This position requires a flexible work schedule of mornings, afternoons and weekends. This position will work mostly Tuesday to Saturday sharing a rotation of morning and afternoon work.  The business may schedule you to work Mondays as well.  This job is Full time and located in Langley, BC.Local transit is available for most working hours however not before 5:45am in most cases.  Candidates must be able to be at work as early as 4am.  If you are on transit, please review options.  We are located at 9696 199A Street in Langley (Port Kells)

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Operate multi-function process control machinery through control panels, computer terminals or other control systems to grind, mix, cook or otherwise process poultry, beef and pork products
  • Manual dumping of 25kg bags of ingredients required in processing of meat (highly repetitive)
  • Observe gauges and monitors to verify specified processing conditions and make adjustments to process variables such as cooking times, ingredient inputs, machine speeds and output according to standards. Monitor temperatures to Quality specifications.
  • Perform corrective machine adjustments, clean machines and immediate work areas.
  • Maximize efficiency where possible, minimize down time, efficient change-over of products and reporting mechanical problems promptly.
  • Operate mobile equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts (and maintain a current license)
  • Apply lock out and other safety principles and policies
  • Maintain HACCP and SQF Food Safety principles at all times.
  • Perform all line checks to ensure compliance with product specifications.
  • Organize dry goods to ensure compliance with specifications of the product.
  • Organize, allocate and monitor available manpower, ensure fair rotation of positions and adherence to job procedures. Provide regular feedback to employees and Supervisors.

COMPETENCY:

  • Able to handle heavy and repetitive lifting of up to 30kg bags
  • Must be dependable and hold an above average attendance record
  • Mechanical aptitude and Strong mathematical skills
  • Good communication skills and able to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to perform production paperwork with accuracy, Basic Computer Skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and with little supervision
