Originally Founded in 1917 by Jacob
David Sweid, the company grew from a corner store to a
meat market.
JD Sweid Ltd operated for many
years as a meat market before evolving over time to a
manufacturer of further processed beef products operating
a facility in Burnaby.
In 1987 JD Sweid Ltd was acquired
by the Shato Holdings group. In 1992 JD Sweid Ltd
acquired Protein Foods and incorporated poultry into
their product line under the name of Hampton House.
The Western operations include
manufacturing facilities in both Langley and Burnaby
producing various meat products in state of the art
facilities.
In 2006 JD Sweid Ltd acquired
Elmira Poultry in Waterloo Ontario, creating a truly
national manufacturing network to meet the ever changing
needs of our customers. This acquisition resulted in our name
changing to JD Sweid Foods and created one of
Canada’s largest suppliers of poultry and beef products
to the food service and retail industries.
The organization now operates three
facilities in Langley, Burnaby, and Waterloo and employs
approximately 600 people who are working to provide
world class customers with high quality products.
Today JD Sweid Foods continues to
be committed to producing safe, innovative, high quality
products for our customers and their consumers. |
